Dental Implants

Having dental implant is a common way of replacing a missing tooth and maintaining a complete smile.

If you think of the implant as like an artificial tooth root that will allow your dentist to place a crown (fake tooth) on top of it giving the illusion of a real tooth.

Implants can be used to replace one tooth or fill a larger gap by securing a Dental Bridge or Denture to into your mouth in a way that the conventional Bridge or Denture does not.

Having a Dental Implant is the closest one can get to having a new tooth!

To help understand a bit more about Dental Implants we have prepared some FAQ answers below.

Implant FAQs

How much do they cost?

Fees start at £2,500 with the final amount depending on your personal Dental needs. The options available to you will be discussed at your consultation appointment along with the associated fees.

How long does it take?

Typically 3/4 months to complete although this can vary from patient to patient.

How do they maintain them once they are in?

Having a Dental Implant is a long term commitment and so it is important to maintain the implant as you would your natural tooth by regularly visiting the dentist and hygienist. If they aren’t looked after properly Dental Implants can fail, becoming wobbly and in the worse cases fall out.

Can I feel it when it is in?

No, once the implant is in you wont feel it at all. Just the benefit of being able to use an otherwise empty space for eating, smiling, laughing, kissing…..

What is the typical step by step process to having a dental implant?

There are three main steps that are followed when considering and then going ahead with implant placement. The time and length of each section depend on the individual so it is hard to be too precise about this on our website.

Stage 1 – Planning and Preparation

Initially you will need to complete the interest from (link here and below) explaining a bit about why you want a Dental Implant. Once we have this information – dont forget to press send – one of the team will be in touch to book you in for a Consultation.

During the consultation one of the team will talk with you about Dental implants explaining what is involved whilst carrying out a review of your oral health to make sure this is the right treatment option for you. Once completed and if required you will be referred for a CBCT (3D) image .

Once taken the CBCT image reviewed with you and a treatment plan put forward. Once agreed this treatment will allow us to move to stage 2.

Stage 2 – Implant placement

Generally Dental Implants are placed in one session with a follow up after a week and then an review appointment a month later.

Stage 3 – Crown placement

After around 3 months we will arrange for you to have a review with the implant placing dentist so that a

Dental crown can be made (the tooth like bit). This involves taking impressions that are sent to one of our Dental laboratories. The Crown is placed (put on) after a couple of weeks.

We will review your treatment in a month and then at your routine check ups.
